Earn the Same Prestigious Degree as On-Campus Students
ONLINE LEARNING
Students who earn their Boston University degree online receive the exact same degree as students who complete the degree on-campus. "Is online learning right for me?" This is one of the most frequently asked questions from prospective students considering an online education. In most ways, online education is similar to conventional on-campus instruction. The major difference is that online programs are designed to allow you to balance your studies with your busy personal and professional obligations.
Like a traditional on-campus program, as an online music school student you will have various textbooks for each class. However, your classroom will be replaced by anywhere you have access to a computer and the internet. Course lectures will be available online, and you can replay them as often as you like on your schedule. Homework, class work, writing assignments and exams are completed and submitted online. To help you stay current with class studies, you will be given a detailed course syllabus each week.
Some students are very creative in fitting their studies into their schedule. Some use their lunch break to catch up on reading. Others set their alarms to wake up early to complete their homework. While others wait until after they put their children to bed to log on to their courses and complete their weekly work.
As a music school online student at Boston University, you are never alone. Part of the tremendous benefits offered by the program is the unprecedented levels of support available to all students. If you run into any sort of difficulty, you may contact your program manager, course facilitator, and other students in the program for help and support. The number of resources available to help students stay on track is so comprehensive, that many students have said that they feel more support in the online program than during any on-campus course.
Once you get to the end of your journey and earn you degree, you will know that all the hard work has paid off. When that time comes we hope that you can work it into your schedule to attend the graduation ceremonies at our campus to celebrate your accomplishment. There you can stand next to your classmates who completed the journey with you as well as the on-campus students who have earned the same degree. We look forward to congratulating you in person, and handing you the same diploma as students who completed the degree on-campus.
