Importance of Regional Accreditation
Regional accreditation is the primary type of institutional accreditation in the United States. Boston University is regionally accredited by the NEASE. In addition, Boston University holds accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Music(NASM) founded in 1924, is an organization of schools, conservatories, colleges and universities with over 600 accredited institutional members. It establishes national standards for undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials.
Institutional Membership is gained only through the peer review process of accreditation. Individual Membership is available by application.
NASM provides information to potential students and parents, consultations, statistical information, professional development, and policy analysis.
NASM has an extensive publications program.
